Project no.7
Lamy 5th Generation

Project Type  Interior Design
Location  Shanghai

Lamy, the German pen manufacturer that specializes in designer writing instruments, has partnered with ESNA & CO as their design team for over a decade. The brand's stores aim to provide an interactive experience for people from diverse creative disciplines to explore their broad selection of products. With each new concept store, ESNA & CO has meticulously blended a playful yet elegant aesthetic with functionality, creating an engaging environment that showcases the brand's offerings. The design achieves a delicate balance between aesthetics and practicality through the use of modular displays, subtle yet playful wall displays, and a "creative experiment" corner, allowing for flexibility and customization.

The 5th generation of store design eliminates barriers between customers and sellers, creating a more inviting shopping experience. The Lamy store embraced this by incorporating key design elements such as open floor plans, sleek displays, interactive technology, and a customer-centric approach. By replacing traditional checkout counters with mobile payment systems and roaming sales associates, the store achieves a seamless and personalized experience that encourages customers to engage with the brand. The result is a community hub that connects customers with the brand and its products in a meaningful way.

The modular design of the Lamy store is not only practical, but also a key component of the brand's overall marketing strategy. With over one hundred stores in China, maintaining a cohesive brand identity is crucial, but so is being able to adapt to the unique needs of each location. The modular approach ensures that each store can be easily recreated and adapted to fit the specific layout and size of its location, as well as the preferences of the local market. This flexibility allows the brand to experiment with new ideas and concepts, while still maintaining a consistent brand image.
